As a member of a fraternity in college - I agree there needs to be an overhaul. There are some traditional practices and rituals that shouldn’t change per the fraternity and will be hard pressed to remove but that comes from each respective HQ and advisor. Not all rituals and practices are bad. My pledging experience was actually fine and no qualms. Pledging is a way of earning respect - “if I did it, so can they”. Not all pledging is bad. Everyone has a different experience. Some worse than others and yes that should change because it can be extremely wrong, dangerous, and lethal (note my word, some). If you want to change a fraternity, you have to change it at the HQ level and have advisors present throughout each chapters overhaul for a while. This is something that will take forever to change, not to mention if the organization lives up to its nickname/title/identifier. For instance SAE (his organization) is known as Sexual Assault Experts.

Of course it's toxic. You're literally paying for privilege and friends all while having false status.

Only weak, worthless, chickenshit people join fraternities, whether they were born that way or made themselves into that. There is always certain percentage of bullies, cowards. Smaller percentage of men and women

When questioned about his days as a young man, Brett Kavanaugh's volatile emotions have some questioning if he's fit for the Supreme Court:

A 19 year old can vote, join the military, get married, and is tried as an adult if arrested. Hardly a 'boy'.
