Soon after Iranian media announced that the country’s air defense system shot down a US plane over Kuwait, they released this video that showed an F-15 burning and plummeting to the ground. As per media reports, the pilot ejected safely. It is suspected a weapons systems officer was also onboard. As of 2:30 pm IST on 2 March, his whereabouts were not confirmed. Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence said several US warplanes crashed in Kuwaiti territory and that all crew members were unharmed and taken for medical checks. It did not specify the number or type of US military jets involved, nor the cause of the crashes. As of publishing, the United States had not commented on the incident. This comes as the conflict in West Asia entered its third day, with missiles and drones reported across the Gulf and air defences on high alert. As of 2.30 pm IST, 2 March, Iran’s Red Crescent organisation said that at least 555 people had lost their lives in the strikes.
