For years, Shammi Narang’s voice has been heard by passengers travelling on the Delhi Metro. But for his grandson, hearing that voice inside a metro train was a new experience. Narang, a voice artist and former news anchor, took his grandson on his first metro ride on the Yellow Line. During the journey, his grandson recognised Narang’s voice coming from the train’s announcement system. Narang has lent his voice to metro systems across several Indian cities. His voice has been used for announcements that guide passengers during their journeys. The metro ride gave Narang’s grandson an opportunity to hear the voice he knows from his grandfather while travelling on the system where the announcements are played. Narang said he may not travel on the metro forever, but his voice could continue travelling across generations.
