Karoline Leavitt responds to Trump saying that Democrats encouraging military members to refuse illegal orders is "punishable by death."
During a White House press briefing on November 20, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt repeatedly insisted that Democrats had sent out a video telling military members to defy legal orders from Trump, prompting the president to respond by saying that this was "seditious behavior punishable by death."
The video, posted to Facebook by six congressional Democrats, reminds active duty service members that they can "refuse illegal orders," and centers around loyalty to the U.S. constitution.
Leavitt said that posting this video is a "very dangerous" thing for Democrats to do, and confirmed that while Trump does not want to execute democratic members of Congress, he wants to see them held accountable for these actions.
At the end of her briefing, Leavitt ignored a reporter who attempted to correct her by stating that she had misquoted what Democrats said in the video.
