The data originates from InterSociety, a non-governmental statistics reporting organization. However, the BBC reviewed these numbers and found that the 2025 report includes a compilation of media reports involving murders and attacks, but the religious affiliation of the victims is not mentioned in “about half of these cases,” according to the BBC.
